The Essential Home School Books

In a day and age when even sending your kids to school can be dangerous or ineffective, more and more parents are taking control of their children?s education by choosing to home school. Home schooling is certainly not the answer in all situations. But occasionally it becomes evident that a particular child will achieve greater success through home schooling as opposed to the traditional learning environment.

Home schooling, however, is not something to approach lightly. It is absolutely essential that those teaching the child ? whether a parent or other instructor ? are qualified to provide a home school education. And part of providing this education is the use of educational material such as home school books.

Home school books should mirror the curriculum being introduced in the child?s particular grade level. Home schooling is a commitment to providing the child a safe and comfortable learning environment; but it is also a commitment to keeping the child on track educationally with their peers. Subsequently, home school books should focus on meeting curriculum goals as identified by the school district and home educators. And the material should be taught in a way that addresses the particular needs of the student.

Another particular use for home school books is to attend to those special learning needs sometimes required by home schooled students. Often, when a child is struggling with certain learning disabilities, a parent will make a decision to attempt home schooling in an effort to individually focus on the child and achieve educational success. Home school books that address these individual obstacles can have far reaching impact on successful learning.

Home school books ? along with individualized curriculum ? can be found online and will walk instructors through the instructional process with ease and comfort. Parents who choose to home school should familiarize themselves with the curriculum and the information found in home school books so they can best tailor the instruction to meet the student?s needs.

Home schooling, when done properly and responsibly, can help students with particular needs make educational headway. Use home school books to lay the foundation for a quality education.

Womens Cowhide Leather MultiPurpose Double Zipper Wallet

Womens Cowhide Leather MultiPurpose Double Zipper Wallet
Ladies wallet double zipper. Size IS 7.5 inch Length and 4.5 inch width. Color Choice: Black, Brown, Tan & Burgundy. Thanks for shopping at Apparel Village.

Customer Review: Good Wallet!

Very good wallet made better by the great price! This one is a replacement for a similar style wallet in vinyl that I've had for 10 years. The zipper on this new wallet is much sturdier than the old one and so are the zipper pulls! The "offensive odor" mentioned by a previous reviewer is a leather smell which some people find quite pleasant (can't please all of the people all of the time?). I expect this wallet to last at least as long or longer than my old vinyl one. My only complaint (?) is that once I had everything in the wallet the detachable check book didn't fit as well...which for me is no big deal because I generally don't carry my checkbook with me...it could be a problem for someone who does. Otherwise, a very good buy!!

Customer Review: Idea great. Quality poor

I liked the concept of this wallet. Plenty of storage and organizational features. I returned it because a part of the inside was not quality made. The area had ripped away from where it was supposed to be. The company was great in a prompt refund. It may be that the wallet I purchased was just defective, and had I exchanged it for another, it might have been fine. I instead opted for a refund.

Customer Review: HIGHLY recommended

I bought this book before giving birth to my 1st baby, thinking it might be handy to have around some day. After my daughter was born, this book was one of the most important resources I had to get me through a very difficult nursing relationship. The book provided tons of information on the topics I most needed to know about, and lots of ideas on how to handle various challenges. My lactation consultant was over an hour from my house, so between this book and phone calls to her (and a patient and supportive husband and mom!), my daughter and I made it through those first few, very tough weeks. We ended up nursing until she weaned herself when I got pregnant with #2, who I nursed for 15 months. I used the book again and again as a reference as new issues arose during our nursing months, and I recommend this book to every expecting mama I know who is even remotely considering breastfeeding.

What I like best about this book is the authors' overall attitude toward b/f'ing. They're very supportive of b/f'ing, obviously, but I felt that, if at any point I had decided to call it quits and resort to bottles, I would not have felt "condemned" by this book for my decision. I know that sounds kind of silly now, but when you're a new mama with loads of hormones raging through your body, hormones whose very purpose is to ensure that you don't give up when the going gets tough with that baby, even the "opinion" of a distant author who has never met you and likely never will, can make a huge difference in your ability to make sound decisions. I commend these authors for presenting both sides of the issues and trusting their readers to make the best decisions possible in each unique situation.

With a little help from a bigger friend (parent, guardian…), young children can launch into the world of learning via interactive books. Stories or activity cards snap into the book frame, along with a story cartridge. Grownups will need to help little ones activate the book pages by touching the "Go" button every time a page is turned, as well as showing young "readers" how to touch pictures to make them come to life with developmentally appropriate narration and learning activities. A comfy cushion is attached to the LeapPad platform for cozy shared reading time. Four AA batteries required (not included). --Emilie Coulter

Customer Review: Great product - more for toddlers than infants

I purchased this product as a gift for my 8 month old son. I think over time he will really grow to love this toy but right now its too advanced for him. He is very interested in books so I thought that this would be great for him at this stage but its just not interesting him yet. I'll pull it out of the box again in a couple months to try again.

Customer Review: Sturdy books!

When we first opened the package and saw that the pages of the book that came with the leapfrog system was made of 'paper', we were quite concerned. Our children are both one year old and using all the muscle they have.....however, they have not yet been able to tear any pages or permanently damage the book in any way (yet). We're quite happy with the purchase.

The Land Before Time

The Land Before Time
This 1988 animated feature from Don Bluth (An American Tail) focuses on an orphaned young dinosaur, Littlefoot, who has to make his way to the paradise of the Great Valley in order to survive a plague. Along the way, he meets up with some other dinos from different species, and they all bond and travel together. On the way, they have plenty of adventures. Even with elements of suspense, this is a pretty relaxed movie that isn't in a particular hurry to roll out its story. Kids will like the originality of the concept, and the themes of friendship and cooperation are well woven into the fabric of the entertainment, plus the music is great. Bluth's artwork looks good, though--as always--he never seems to quite catch up with the quality of the Disney machine. --Tom Keogh

Customer Review: The Land Before All The Sequels

This is one of the better films made for kids. I watched it a ton when I was younger, and can now admit that I was positively terrified of Sharptooth.

Unfortunately, they couldn't stop making sequels. Now, our prehistoric heroes have been reduced to a bunch of computer generated dinos, prancing around singing annoyingly about diversity.

See the original. It's much better.

Customer Review: Pleasantly Surprised

My wife and I recently purchased this movie for my four-year old son and I have to admit I was very surprised at the quality of the movie from a productiona and storytelling standpoint.

I was very sceptical at first. I have never cared for Don Bluth's style (I thought he was generally too dark for a children's animator), although I never considered him lacking talent. I just figured I was in for another cheap kid's movie with nothing to find of interest to an adult and (hopefully) nothing very offensive.

Well, I was first struck by the brilliant orchestral score. I consider myself a mild aficionado of classical music and I will tell you, my firends, the score in this film is both musically complex and emotionally affecting. Listen closely neat the movie's opening, as Littlefoot pops out of his egg. The music's tenderness and joy is wonderful!

Next, having viewed the movie all the way through, I was really shocked to realize the thing was utterly devoid of ANY social or environmental message, the kind of drool-inducing pap they shove down kids' throats at every turn nowadays (anyone seen "Ferngully"?). Of course, one could make the case the movie comments about prejudice, but it also extolls virtues like perservereance, conviction and teamwork! It's just a great story, simply told, about dinosaurs! And what kid doesn't like dinosaurs?

And for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, don't worry about violence or any adult themes (like death). The adult themes are all handled with grace and tact, in the absolute best taste. And the violence is bloodless and done in a way that is exciting, but not scary. I'd recommend to any parents to get a good, well-illustrated book on dinosaurs before showing this movie to their kids - if they like the movie, you will have a great opportunity to spark their imaginations and share some great educational moments with them afterwards. My son and I went through a HUGE encyclopedia of dinosaurs after this movie and we had a great time!

Anyway, I can't speak for any of the sequels, but the original Land Before Time is a great family movie.

Customer Review: Great for the very beginner interested in testing themselves

The book breaks down tough terms and products with recommendations on the best overall gear to use during the race. The fitness plans forced me to take a serious look at my swimming endurance. I can run and bike but the book helped me train my way into this critical portion of the race.

Customer Review: Belongs on the coffee table...

The best *looking*, but far from best, book I've found on triathlons. Its heavy, glossy pages with full-color photos make it very appealing on the surface, but sadly it lacks any depth. It offers cursory explanations of various aspects of the sport, and sprinkles in a little bit of good advice here and there, but that's about it as far as content goes. It fails to include some crucial aspects of training - such as weight training - completely!

In the end, this book is ultimately better suited for your coffee table than your bookshelf. Complete newcomers to triathlons may get a little out of it, but I think anyone seriously interested in the sport would be better off reading The Triathlete's Training Bible by Joe Friel.
