Buying books online - isn't Amazon the best value?

Everybody wants good value when they buy books online - especially expensive ones. And everyone knows that people like Amazon have transformed book buying to provide everyone with better value than bookshops and other booksellers.

Don't they? Haven't they?

Not exactly. I am telling you because I should know. I too am a trader. I get the same prices, presumably, as Amazon from the publishing houses. They may even get a bigger discount from me becuase they buy in bulk for their thousands of customers. So how can I charge less than me?

Is it because they add apostage charge of around 3 to all orders under around 39? Most paperback books are around 6.99. If you look at Amazon's description of the book it may say "Our price 5.59. You save 20%". You are then invited to "buy now".

So you are saving 1.40 on the price you would pay in a bookshop but then paying 3 postage. That makes the price 1.60 MORE than the bookshop price. That's the smallest village bookshop you can find, remember. Are you really going to order 39 worth of books at once? Can your credit card stand it?

But are Amazon making a loss by offering you a 20% discount in the first place? Not on your life. They often get 35% discount. So they paid around 4.50 a book they are then asking you to pay 5.59. How many people buying a popular book does it take for them to cover their costs and make a profit even if they DIDN'T charge you 3 postage.

But they do charge you that. So its not even a question of making a small profit or loss on each sale and hoping selling to lots of people gets them a discount on their postage bill - which it usually does.

So how much should you pay? Well, we would make a profit on that 6.99 book with 35% discount to us from the publisher by charging you 5.75 INCLUDING POSTAGE.

So, please. Don't think you're not paying shop prices rather than discount prices. And I mean corner shop inflated prices, not Wal Mart sell it cheap prices.

"What Do I Sell?"Shahnaz Rauf

"What Do I Sell?"

Copyright [C] 2003 Shahnaz Rauf, www.snzeport.com

What do I sell? This is a very critical question that I get asked very often. Yes there are loads of people out there who have obtained all the right online marketing tools, they have learned all the concepts and techniques of online marketing, yet they don`t know what to sell. Yes they keep shuffling along from program to program hoping to strike it rich somewhere. They loose a lot of money along the way to ultimately get disillusioned.

Now If you plan to operate on the internet, your first and foremost product should be yourself.

Yes, you are your own product. You need to sell yourself to develop trust and credibility the basic elements for any sales process. To do so you need to develop your own mailing list. This is not just a list of email addresses, this is a highly responsive list of followers who trust and respect you to the core.

Once you have got such a killer list, you may proceed to

- Recommend other People`s tried and tested quality products and earn through affiliate commissions.

- You can sell advertising space in your newsletter.

- Or you may even convert your list into a paid membership site or a monthly subscription based list.

- And ultimately Develop your own product line.

Of course there are people earning incredible fortunes just by selling other peoples products, but such top affiliates are really few and far between, countable on your fingers they also usually have huge lists with a trusted set of followers.

But to reach the ultimate bliss in marketing you need to develop your own product line. Here the big question is

How do you come up with your own killer product line? here is the basic procedure:

1. Define What you really want to do

Here your own interest or what you really want to do is important. You may not be able to attain any great heights without that spark of passion driving you along. Also you do not want to get stuck in another dead end project where even getting started becomes a big challenge. So the all defining question is What do you enjoy doing? Or rather,

What can you do effortlessly without taxing yourself too much work on your strengths and weaknesses, which ones can you polish up to use successfully.

Once you have sorted out your own inner turmoil and discovered what you really want to do, you have got your niche category or boundaries of operation. Next you need to proceed with the equally important second step:

2. What do the people want?

Or rather what do your potential customers want. To be able to sell successfully you have to find a problem/ need within your niche and provide the perfect solution. So here comes the part of doing the market research. No dont be turned off, online market research may not be as complicated as the offline version.

How To develop your own killer product:

- One conventional technique is to organize a questionnaire/ quiz/ Survey and promote it.

- Another way is to lurk in forums related to your area of interest and find out what people are talking about. What problems they have and work out a solution.

- Yet another powerful way is to capitalize on the concept of keywords. Discover what words or phrases are most frequently searched on the various search engines, what information are people desperately looking for. Here are some tools to help you out:

http://www.goodkeywords.com - fr*ee software to enable you get all the keywords relevant to your area of interest.

http://www.wordtracker.com - You can get a fr*ee weekly report of the top 500 frequently searched words on the Internet.

http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ - Here you can check the popularity/ how many searches are being made for any keyword of your choice.

Once you have short listed your search terms, use these terms on the search engines yourself, visit all the sites that come up and find out what is the missing element that you can capitalize on.

- OK you have hit the raw nerve. Now do some brain storming/ mind mapping to work out what kind of information/ software/ website is needed. You may get incredible professional assistance to develop your product from http://www.elance.com

Now here are some insider tips for you to get your creative juices flowing:

-All the newbies on the net are desperately searching for some realistic sure fire way to start earning a decent income easily and immediately.

- All the oldbies with websites or products are searching for new ways to advertise/ market effectively and cheaply.

- Also another killer idea/product is desperately needed to overcome the hegemony and over exposure of email marketing. As frankly the average person is not usually cut out to handle developing huge responsive mailing lists. And now the ugly sp*m filters overtones ringing in the back ground are heralding the impending failure of email marketing.

A brain wave anyone?

Customer Review: OBD II & Electronic Engine Management Systems (Haynes)

This book is easy reading and comprehensive. It covers all of the OBD II diagnostic codes for the majority of auto builders. I've found it to be very helpful in diagnosing vehicles with the check engine light on.

Customer Review: OBD-II insight

The book is quite useful to help one understand how the OBD-II system works. It may not solve your current problem, but at least you will have some idea of what causes the "service engine" light to come on and sometimes go off. It makes no bones about the fact that some problems are difficult to solve.

Customer Review: Travel bag

I purchased the Travelon expandable bag and though it is a nice bag it is not as roomy as they describe. The picture is deceptive. Read the dimensions of the bag and that will give you a better idea of how large the bag is

Customer Review: New bag

I just got this bag a couple of days ago. I just put all my stuff in it and actually used it out for the first time today while shopping. I like the fact that it has lots of room inside and lots of pockets. I got this for eveyday use and I know it will come in handy when out with my kids, because of all the stuff I end up holding for them. I haven't tried putting a water bottle in it yet, but am sure one will fit. The only thing I didn't like about it was, the strap kept digging into my neck, but I am sure that once I get used to it and get the strap adjusted right, it should be fine. I love that I can walk around a store and be hands free and not have to worry about someone walking off with my bag. I think the over the body design will also help with the shoulder and back pain I get from hauling around a heavy bag on one side.

Hannah Montana "In Concert Collection" Deluxe Singing w/ "The Other Side of Me"

Hannah Montana "In Concert Collection" Deluxe Singing w/ "The Other Side of Me"
This Hannah Doll is dressed up for an electrifying performance and ready to rock the stage. Press a button to hear her sing her hit song, "The Other Side of Me." Includes Hannah doll in authentic outfits from T.V. show, Hannah Montana, microphone, poster and backstage pass. Requires 4 "AG13" button-cell batteries, included. Measures 13" tall.

Customer Review: another "gotta have" for the Hannah Montana set (meant facetiously)

I wish companies would set these toys to play more of the song. It is very annoying to hear the same two or three bars of an already constantly heard song. This was a Christmas gift, but I haven't seen or heard my daughter playing with this much.

Customer Review: FUN with HANNAH!

My 6yo dd loves playing with this doll. She loves wearing the bracelet that came with it. My only complaint would be the back of her head is lacking hair...but that didn't make a difference with my little girl. She loves it. The doll sings very loud, which was surprising, but at least it's only a small portion of the song. I imagine that we will be collecting ALL the Hannah dolls now...

UB Funkeys Wasabi [Toy]

UB Funkeys Wasabi [Toy]
Funkey folklore reports it like this - a long time ago the Stitch were trusted with the great secret of King Funkankhamun of the Golden Age. It was a secret so great it could bring down the King, his Golden Age and maybe all of Terrapinia. As protectors of the this great secret, the Stitch kept away from most other Funkeys, spending their time lurking in graveyards, peacefully cultivating and gathering mushrooms. They were so successful in keeping this secret, that all Funkeys started entrusting their secrets to the Stitch. They would follow other Funkeys around, learn the secrets and then store them for safe keeping. After years of this behavior, the Stitch evolved to having lips sewed shut, an eye for danger, and no heart so that they can never be tempted to tell their secrets. If what they knew got out . . .

The Rabbit Corkscrew

The Rabbit Corkscrew
Bid crumbling corks adieu. Award-winning design meets everyday convenience with this fast-as-lightning yet incredibly smooth-pulling corkscrew. Metrokane's Rabbit corkscrew opens any size wine bottle in just three seconds, and then automatically releases the cork. Features a user-friendly ergonomic design. Also includes a foil cutter. Handsomely packaged in a convenient storage case. Ten-year warranty.

Customer Review: How to use the Metrokane Rabbit

From a design standpoint, this is a very good product. But the documentation is pathetic, and was clearly never tested with new / real users. There is no explanation of how it's supposed to work. That understanding is very helpful: with it, you'll never have trouble, and will marvel at the clever design. Let's get started.

Have a bottle of wine handy on which you've already used the supplied (and very good) little foil cutter to remove the foil over the cork.

Take the unit in your hand and look at the movable parts. The overhead lever that swings outward / downward and then is reversed / brought back over the top - moves the spiral corkscrew up and down. To see this, operate the overhead lever with one hand while holding the clamping "side handles" with the other. When you move the overhead handle the corkscrew rotates.

Why is the corkscrew turning? Because it's forced to do that as it goes through a "guide" (the metal collar with gray plastic center). The gray plastic piece has an internal spiral track that forces the corkscrew to rotate as it passes through.

Here's the critical point: as long as the guide mechanism is locked in place and can't move up or down, the guide forces the corkscrew to rotate when going through.

What if this guide were locked in place on the `down-stroke,' but could move vertically on the `up-stroke'? Then the guide would force the corkscrew to rotate on the way down (so the corkscrew would penetrate the cork), but the guide would stay attached to (and _not_ rotate) the corkscrew on the way up - thus pulling the cork.

When the unit is operated correctly this is exactly what happens. But how?

Look more closely: Before using the Rabbit's `side-handles' to hold the wine bottle neck, the guide is locked in place by two protruding spring-loaded latches and can't move vertically. Try it: it won't budge. (You can actually see these small latches projecting over the top of the guide and keeping it from moving - by looking in the area above and to the far rear of the guide, near the smooth rod.)

On the other hand, when the clamping handles are squeezed onto the neck of a bottle, these latches above the guide _retract_, releasing their hold on the guide so it can move upward.

Do this now: Take your bottle of wine and, with the overhead lever rotated to its fully outward / downward position, place the guide directly over the cork and grip the neck of the bottle _firmly_ with the clamping side handles.

Look at the latches described above: they have retracted, and no longer restrain the guide from moving upward. This has no effect during the down-stroke / cork penetration phase, since the guide is already as low as it can go. Because the guide can't move, it forces the corkscrew to rotate when you operate the overhead lever - thus penetrating the cork. Perform this down-stroke.

Now watch what happens when the overhead lever is pulled back to withdraw the cork (while you at the same time continue to grip the bottle neck firmly with the side levers). Because the guide can now move vertically with the corkscrew, it imposes no rotation on the corkscrew. The corkscrew stays inside the cork as the overhead lever is moved outward / downward, and the cork is extracted. Do it. You now have the cork out of the bottle, suspended above the bottle neck, and are still gripping the side handles around the bottle neck.

Release your hold on the side handles and move the Rabbit away from the bottle. The cork is still attached to the corkscrew. Re-grip the side handles with one hand and once again operate the overhead lever, bringing it all the way back to its fully closed position again (as if you were on the original down-stroke into the cork).

As you get to the very end of the stroke, you will feel resistance and will hear a click: the latches have snapped back into place over the top of the guide, locking it in place. The guide is once again `captured' - and cannot move vertically. The cork is still attached to the corkscrew.

Finally, move the overhead lever back yet again to its fully open position (as if pulling the cork from the bottle). This time the latches _don't_ retract (because you're not using the side handles to grip the bottle neck) - so the latches again keep the guide from moving, and this forces the corkscrew to rotate `in reverse' as it passes upward through the guide. The corkscrew backs out of the cork and the cork drops off. It takes all of a few seconds once you get the hang of it.

Understanding the operating principles should help. None of this is well explained (or, indeed, explained at all) in the almost non-existent documentation.

Harry and his friends cautiously explore the house, searching for their ball, and have a host of hair-raising experiences.

Customer Review: Fifteen dollar is a good price

My girl just love this four Living books, she plays them a lot, over and over (she is five years old, and does have english as her second language, and they help her to build up her english skills, while she is having fun) . She can choose if she want to hear it like a story, or if she wants to play bye clicking on the pictures on each page. It says up to 7 years on the games, but I should say it fits more 3-5 years old, older would bee bored after playing it once or twice. We just used them on windows 98, and they workes greate.

15 dollar is a greate price for them, under 5 dollars per game!

Definatly worth the money!!

Customer Review: Living Books problem w/ XP

After a number of back and forth email contacts with the supplier - it turns out that to use this item on XP, there is a complicated series of changes to the settings of the computer that need to be done. I couldn't do it. And a child for sure could not even attempt it. For all practical purposes, this item is not XP compatible. I wanted to return it - and they refused.

UNDERSTANDING WOOD FINISHING by BOB FLEXNER

UNDERSTANDING WOOD FINISHING by BOB FLEXNER
For more than 18 years, Bob Flexner has been inspiring woodworkers with his writings & teachings on wood finishing. Now, from the best-selling author comes the long-awaited & completely updated second edition of UNDERSTANDING WOOD FINISHING --the most practical, comprehensive book on finishing ever published.

Customer Review: Very readable and very useful

I know little about finishing and I can rarely make sense of the products I see in the store, or even of the products I see categorized online. Turns out, it's not just me. In a surprisingly readable work, Flexner systematically covers the essentials of finishing, taking the reader past the marketing-speak and poor product instructions, and laying out the basic finishing approaches, tradeoffs, and tools.

As just one example, I was planning on using a particular MinWax finish which calls for a next coat within two hours. Fleener actually shows this particular finish, what happens if you follow the (incorrect) instructions, what happens if you wait longer, and why it works like that. He presents many, many options, but at the same time, lays out some basic techniques for the beginner.

I read the book from start to finish, skipping just a very few parts, but the book is written so you can start at pretty much any chapter; the text has many embedded references so that you can get more details on related topics.

In short, this is just a very readable and useful book. I'm so glad I got it.

Customer Review: The most helpful book on this subject I have seen

This book has lots of helpful info that not only tells you what finishes to use in your circumstances but how different finishes work, where you can go wrong and how to repair finish problems. He debunks a lot of popular myths and tells you why they are wrong.

My facilities coworker who is a whiz at finish carpentry has borrowed this book so many times I've decided to get him his own copy.

If you have ever wondered which finish to use and why...this book is for you.

It's simple, challenging, and addictive. Keep track of your best performances, and keep an eye on the competition

Customer Review: bejeweled

I really enjoy playing this game. My Boyfriend and I play for hours at a time, until our hands are so cramped we can't move the fingers any more. It is extremely addicting! Can't wait to get Bejeweled 2!

Nine Inch Nails - Closure

Nine Inch Nails - Closure
Customer Review: Pretty awesome in general.

Before I begin, let me just say that finding this VHS set was borderline impossible. My parents bought it for me as a birthday present from someone who was selling it off amazon for, I think, $36 (not the site but someone who was selling it on the site. Even amazon doesn't carry this!). And their money didn't go to waste. I've been wanting this set for a while so the though that I was getting it in the first place thrilled me.

Closure video 1 is a collection of all of their videos up to the point this was released, including some bonus live material that was Eraser, another version of Wish, and Hurt without David Bowie. The way the whole thing is put together is pretty cool. The best part is that none of the videos are censored, either. The second VHS is a short documentary of NIN's '94-'98 Self-Destruct tour. The concert footage is Pinion, Terrible Lie, Piggy, Down In It, March of the Pigs, The Only Time, Wish, Hurt, and Something I Can Never Have. In between each song there is backstage footage and some short clips of them playing at Woodstock '95 and other venues. A lot of it is pretty funny, especially the part where Trent, Robin, Charlie, Jerome, Danny, and some of their crew and friends are seeing who can knock a cord phone (not sure if that's what it is but I don't know what else it could be) off a cord it's hanging by (Trent wins). Like And All That Could Have Been and Beside You In Time, the footage is taken from various concerts (especially on this one, since it's all taken from '94 to '98). The concert is great, as Trent shows off how maniacal of a showman he was back in his youthful days: trashing instruments, throwing his bandmates everywhere and sending them to the ER, etc. The songs are also played perfectly, with virtually no errors.

Now, in all fairness, it definitely has its share of flaws. The footage is grainy, sometime REALLY grainy, especially on Piggy, Hurt (with David Bowie), and on interview with Trent talking about his Woodstock performance. The rest is better, but not by a whole lot. Also, on And All That Could Have Been and Beside You In Time, the quick outfit changes are obvious, as they are on this one, but unlike the aforementioned DVDs, on Closure, sometimes the transition between scenes gets kind of awkward. For example, on Down In It, when the scene changes from Trent to Danny singing "Rain rain go away, come again some other day," it cuts into "Come again some other day" with a noticeable switch in the notes everyone is playing. This seems like a very foolish mistake if you ask me. Lastly, I wish there could have been more than 8 live songs (11 if you include Eraser, Wish and Hurt on the second video, even though the last 2 are already included on the concert part). I mean, there just could have been so much more....

Nonetheless, Closure is an great video set, and no NIN collection is complete without it. It falls just a little short of perfectly documenting the Self Destruct Tour, which is why I had to dock off 1 star, but that's still only a minor flaw. And as for the DVD version of Closure that Trent made of this. Don't bother waiting around for it. There are too many legal problems with his former manager (who, if you ask me, is just pissed that Trent beat him in court after he selfishly kept millions of dollars that rightfully belonged to Trent), so it won't happen. However, you can find most of the bonus material that was on the aforementioned unreleased DVD on Youtube, including the infamous Broken movie (a disgusting masterpiece, by the way).

So, yeah, just buy this and don't wait a second more for its release on DVD, which will never happen.

Customer Review: A must for Nine Inch Nails fans

Though, I wish Trent would reissue this piece on DVD and there are rumors he might, this is a great look at Nine Inch Nails' early years. One of the videos shows us the Self Destruct tour, which as seen on the video was a thriving, aggressive show with all the youth and vigor it could handle. This video was put out after The Downward Spiral so the concert includes every album or single up to that point. The other video contains every music video produced by the band up to that point. The videos include Head Like a Hole, Down In It (subject of a FBI investigation for one of the scenes in the video), Sin, Pinion, Wish, Help Me I'm in Hell, Happiness in Slavery (not for the faint of heart), Gave Up, March of the Pigs (Live), Closer, and Hurt (Live). Every video is the unedited version so the full effect of every video is seen. This collection does NOT include the imfamous Broken movie. It includes songs from the album, but NOT the actual movie that accompanied it. The videos for the songs from the album are separate pieces to the Broken movie.

Understanding the operating principles should help. None of this is well explained (or, indeed, explained at all) in the almost non-existent documentation.

Customer Review: Directrions?

Great packaging and well built. It works fine and as advertised but the directions are less than adaquate. Even a mechanical minded-friend had to fool around with it before he got it to work and could show me. I've always been a dunce at this kind of stuff.

Customer Review: not a gamer but....

I am not a "gamer" This was a purchase for my grandson at christmas. I am able to relate to his delight. Further, I feel that as intense as this game is the guide book was a good thing to include with the X-box and Halo game.Jamie says it is "way cool" with real great tips and tricks. I bet that you did not think that it was possible to get a big old bear hug from a 13 year old boy in front of his friends.

As the computer reads them aloud, individual words, phrases and lines are highlighted. Harry & the Haunted House -- A Book by Mark Schlichting. When Harry D. Rabbit hits one of Earl's famous curve balls right over Stinky's head, it lands in the spooky old house down the street.

Why Bother With Audiobooks?

Submitted By: Bill Urell

Simply put, audio books are books that are transformed into audio format. Modern man is more productive than his predecessors. Ironically, modern technology has made him work more instead of work less. With increased productivity, the modern man now seems to have less time for leisure.

One of the leisure activities that has suffered the most is reading. Busy individuals simply do not have the time to enjoy a good book or even an informative magazine.

Fortunately for those who enjoy a good story every now or then or who value the knowledge that books bring, modern technology has made it possible for books to be digested easier and faster. This is done by transforming books into audio books. The traditional way of producing audio books is by letting someone read a book, usually an abridged version, then recording the reading.

Nowadays though, thanks to the wonders of computers, audio files can be produced synthetically. Full orchestration, sound effects and professional actors can be used.

Many have predicted that audio books will become a sensational hit in the years to come. That's why it seems that everybody want to ride the bandwagon. More and more companies are offering audio books, usually as downloadable digital audio files posted on websites such as First-Class-Audiobooks.

The popularity of audio books was caused partly of the popularity of portable audio and video players such as the iPod. Because they are usually found under the mp3 format, audio books can be downloaded into these personal audio players and played back at the convenience of the users.

For most individuals listening is a natural and pleasurable activity. Listening is a passive activity and as such, you can perform it while doing other things such as resting, cooking, and driving or even while working out. With audio books, they could finish a whole book while performing other chores. This will save them a big amount of time. Audio books will enable individuals to be real multitaskers.

How did audiobooks come about? The roots of audio books can be traced to education. To make learning easier for individuals, educators have put their materials into audio format. Individuals trying to learn a new language for example can do so even while they are doing other activities.

Nowadays though, the audiobook format is not limited to educational materials. Almost everything that is published, from books to magazines, newspapers, etc have been transformed into audiobook format.

The types of audio books that are usually rented are fiction books which are usually just listened to once. Educational materials are better off purchased outright so you can keep them for reference.

To find an audio book download site is easy. Within minutes of signing up you will be listening to your favorite book.

Customer Review: Stargate Sg 1 the Final Season

Our family are big Stargate fans..this is a series that is fun for the whole family...the first pilot episode had some nudity, which is strange and really unnecessary, but the rest of the seasons were fine. It's too bad the series ended..but of course there is Stargate Atlantis, and the upcoming Ark of Truth DVD...I guess the series will never be completely over..which is a good thing, for this Stargate fan!

Ebooks And New Life For Old Words

The development of content for a website can have an impact on future marketing efforts.

Every website relies on very specific content to help in managing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies as well as providing customers with the most comprehensive data on issues related to the intent of the site.

Search engines like to find sites that routinely update their website. What that means is that no matter how good the content is on your site you will likely need to replace it simply to continue enjoying the good favor of search engines.

I?d like to suggest that your content be subjected to a three-tier program that will allow the content to be useful long-term.

Tier 1

Original content should focus on a specific aspect of the website and be keyword infused. This knowledge will be useful to both consumers as well as search engines.

Tier 2

Move content to an online archive for a fixed period of time. This content may be highly valued in a search-based environment for consumers and will also help in SEO strategies.

Tier 3

Remove original content after a certain period of time (one to three years based on the frequency of new information).

This system allows you to manage content without waste. The first two tiers help you connect with customers and search engines. This content is expanding and fresh. Consumers enjoy the new data and may even request updates on new content through Real Simple Syndication (RSS).

So what do you do with the data you?ve removed?

This data can be developed into an ebook on the primary emphasis of your website.

So how does that help in marketing?

When you develop an ebook using data you?ve already assembled you have a product that you can capitalize on. You can do this in two different ways. First, you can sell the ebook to consumers who may want the how-to data the ebook may provide. Secondly, you can make the ebook a perk for those who sign up as members of your site. This technique is generally free to the consumer and the ebook acts as a bonus.

Why would I want to give it away when I could sell it?

One of the primary reasons you may want to give it away to site members is because by doing so you can develop additional trust with potential and existing customers. When consumers view the perk for sign up as having value they are more interested in being a part of your site. This desire leads to improved list building potential as members provide pertinent data to help you stay connected in email marketing strategies.

All of this marketing possibility can be derived from something as simple as saving your old content and giving it new life in the form of an ebook.

There continues to be strong evidence that ebooks are an important form of communication as well as marketing. Interestingly researchers are finding that it is non-traditional readers that are finding ebooks most useful, and it is generally niche material that keys in on a very specific need the customer may have. It could be that there are motivated consumers for content you have already developed.

Customer Review: "Phoenix" Delivers

After a somewhat disappointing fourth installement, the folks across the pond have delivered a good film, and a fairly faithful adaption.

The acting is as good as I've come to expect from the talented stars, and a couple new additions shine as well. Evanna Lynch plays Luna perfectly, and Imelda Staunton is a great addition to the cast as Umbridge. I thoroughly hated her guts, which, of course, is just right.

David Yates, while not the best so far, has talent...Half Blood Prince should be good.

The fighting in the end is magnificient! We hadn't really seen wizards doing battle yet, and this just shows how cool it can really be.

The music, while not extraordinary, is good enough to help the film's quality.

Overall, a good, fun film. If anything, it'll really made you thristy for the sequel...

Customer Review: Excellent Adaptation

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Two-Disc Special Edition) (Harry Potter 4) is my favorite of the series, but this one came pretty close. It was a great adaptation, considering how long the book is.

Pretty much everything worked great for me, except the first scenes of the dementor attack, i think it could have been so much better and more intense.

The rest is great, Imelda Stauton was amazing as Dolores Umbridge, a great performance, i hope they bring her back for the seventh movie, would be great to see her again.

It doesnt have much action but is ok, is mostly character driven. The trio has improved their craft, especially Daniel Radcliffe, although the best of the three is still Emma Watson.

The special effects were incredible, especially in the ministry battle, wich in my opinnion was the best scene of the movie. The music was great.

Overall a good movie, the DVD is great, could have had more extras like the goblet of fire dvd, but is satisfying.

Moon Shoes - Black

Moon Shoes - Black
Moon shoes are the original mini trampolines made for feet so kids can jump with anti-gravity effects. Plus, they help to develop balance and coordination. The wacky Moon Shoes are made of quality, high-density plastic, adjustable nylon straps with sure-footing and nonskid treads. They fit up to size 9 men's shoes and hold a maximum total weight of 180 pounds.

Customer Review: Moon shoes are out of this world, except ...

... if you have two children of different sizes to share the moon shoes, you have to add or subtract sixteen rubber bands, which is time consuming. Also, the dramatic price drop for this product after Christmas is frustrating!!

Customer Review: Indoor fun for the winter

My son got these last Christmas when he was 8. I bought them with the idea that since we are homeschoolers (ie home a lot) in the northern US (ie inside a lot), these would be good for burning off some energy. My son is/was small for his age, so I knew that these would last him for a long time.

Our neighbor has a backyard trampoline and my son is rather proficiant and quite a dare-devil on it. When we got the moon shoes, however, I warned him that these were not the same as a trampoline and that he would not be able to jump and lift his feet out from under himself (as they show in the packaging-- thus the three star rating).

They are good for jumping straight up and down and the quality has been good (I haven't had any trouble putting the bands on).

Hannah Montana

Hannah Montana
If the 9-year-old in your life hasn't alerted you already, consider this your heads up: Not since Hilary Duff has Disney delivered the masses a tween sensation as hot as the double-life-leading Miss Hannah Montana. More important for speaker-blowing second- to seventh-graders and the parents forced to buy them CDs, though, no small-screen sensation transcends the tube more convincingly. Part party girl and part plain old good girl, Montana--a sweet-voiced, playful performer--never skimps on the pipes. Country fans will chalk that up to our rhyme-named heroine's lineage; 14-year-old Miley Cyrus, who plays Montana, is the daughter of Nashville star Billy Ray Cyrus (who duets on this disc's sentimental, twang-resistant last track). The rest of the world, though, is apt to find itself belting along based on Hannah's unsinkable hooks and frothy Ashlee-meets-Hilary vocals alone: theme song "Best of Both Worlds" bumps around off a Joan Jett-reminiscent springboard; "Who Said" rips a page from the emo diaries; and "Just Like You" ladles on harmonies sweet enough to attach a stick to. Additional tracks like Jesse McCartney's "She's No You" and B5's Earth Wind & Fire redo "Shining Star" are first-rate complements to the proceedings, but make no mistake: this dance-happy hybrid belongs to the reigning pop princess alone. --Tammy La Gorce

Customer Review: Hannah montana! OH MANNA this CD takes the cakes !!!!!

I like her name rhymes, and because she sings well but her show is great too! She is good for roll models and with her pretty blond wig !! i wanted to buy this CD but gramma gave all the rainy day money to Shane to buy beer with. Hannah Montanas music makes flowers grow!!!!

Customer Review: 5starRatingSayWhat?!

A CD this good deserves 10 STARS!! The whole family loves Miley's music, TV show and we think she's a great person and a fantastic role model. Thank Heaven for Hannah!!!

Lelooni, trickster moon of the planet Intarsia is our hero. Bored and looking for mischief, he finds a fishing rod, which he used to snatch items from the unsuspecting residents of Intarsia. But the vacation does not turn out as he planned. Some of his tricks come back to haunt him, perhaps being a trickster is not such a good thing. Rothco Vintage Paratrooper Messenger Bag - Khaki

Rothco Vintage Paratrooper Messenger Bag - Khaki
Rothco Khaki Vintage Paratrooper Bag / Messenger Bag is a great bag for work, travel and school. Has a large main compartment and adjustable strap for comfort. Specifications: 15" X 11" X 4", hang tags

Customer Review: Great product

This is a great bag for school. I use it everyday to carry books and other things in it. Also, the three compartments on the inside makes it very easy to organize everything.

The only thing I have against the bag is that the strap is a bit too thin and it doesn't provide a lot of support if you are carrying a very heavy load.

However, other than that this is a very useful bag. Very much worth the price.

Customer Review: Quality Purchase......

This puurchase was a very good one, if I needed another one I would purchase another one, also the service was great............THANKS....

Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat

Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat
The Cat is back! This time he's in your house and on your PC! Follow along as the story is read, or click on objects and play games. As kids play along, they will discover big and small surprises along the way. (Ages 3-7)

Customer Review: Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat interactive CD

Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat CD is fabulous! You have the option of just having the story read to you or you can play with it interactively while it's being read. What's so nice about just the story itself is that it is read to music, and even sang in parts. It's so pleasing auditorily, that alone captures the youngster's attention. The graphics are great and when playing interactively with the pages, there are countless things to click on and view. I think quite possibly you can catch something different each time you play. Besides just clicking on items in the scene as with most interactive CDs, you can maipulate some things on the Cat in the Hat, for example, dragging a ball over to shoot in to a basket. This is a definate for the Dr. Suess lover, or anyone who loves the idea of interactive play. A purchase you'll love and use over and over again!

Customer Review: Autistic Kid Loves It

My 7-year old autistic daughter loves this game and will play with it for hours.

She just likes to randomly skip around and repeatedly run the animations from clickable hotspots.

She already could read the book, before we got this program. And she likes the Mike Meyers live-action adaptation of the Cat in the Hat too.

The Pillars of the Earth (Deluxe Edition) (Oprah's Book Club)

The Pillars of the Earth (Deluxe Edition) (Oprah's Book Club)
Ken Follett had long been a staple of the bestseller lists for his novels of intrigue and espionage. Then came The Pillars of the Earth, a grand novel of epic storytelling that readers and critics quickly hailed as his crowning achievement. Now, The Pillars of the Earth is available for the first time to a new audience of readers, in this attractive new trade paperback edition.

In 12th-century England, the building of a mighty Gothic cathedral signals the dawn of a new age. This majestic creation will bond clergy and kings, knights and peasants together in a story of toil, faith, ambition and rivalry. A sweeping tale of the turbulent middle ages, The Pillars of the Earth is a masterpiece from one of the world's most popular authors.

"A novel of majesty and power...Will hold you, fascinate you, surround you." --Chicago Sun-Times

"A towering tale...There's murder, arson, treachery, torture, love, and lust...A good time can be had by all." --New York Daily News

"Touches all human emotions...truly a novel to get lost in." --Cosmopolitan

Customer Review: Pillars didn't cut it for me.

I can recall reading Follett's Eye of the Needle when it came out. I remember it as one of my favorites. I then read the one that followed on its heels and was a little disappointed. My brother in law has read all of Follett's books and proclaimed this as the best, so I bought it with great anticipation of burying myself in it for a long time, given its length.

I was really surprised to be struck from the beginning at the style of writing--it seemed so simple to me, almost as if a college freshman had written it. I tried to let the characters develop a bit, but I couldn't stay with it. I kept being distracted by the language, so much so that I quit after 100 pages and couldn't go back.

I've developed a policy in the last few years. There are so many great books, that if I can't stay with something after awhile for any reason, I'm willing to give up. This after many years of finishing them regardless. There are so many minutes on this Earth. And I'm sorry I feel this way about this book, as I'm not a grouch by nature.

Customer Review: The Pillars of the Earth

A great book. I felt like I was there. Loved all the characters and hated to see the book end. Can't wait to read the sequel.

Apple MacBook Pro MA896LL/A 15" Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)

Apple MacBook Pro MA896LL/A 15" Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)
Stylishly and intelligently designed for mobile professionals, Apple's MacBook Pro gets a serious speed bump with the new, powerful Intel chipset (dubbed Santa Rosa), which provides a faster Core 2 Duo processor, longer battery life, and native support for 802.11n wireless connectivity. This model (MA896LL/A) also includes a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display measuring 15.4 inches and a state-of-the art NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card for more realistic graphics for animation and gaming. This MacBook Pro is powered by the new 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo T7700 processor and 2 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 memory--the fastest portable computer memory currently on the market (June 2007). But some things haven't changed: the trademark stunning aluminum enclosure that's is just one-inch thin, built-in iSight video camera, and Apple's magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter, which safely disconnects when under strain.

This MacBook Pro measures just 1 inch thin and weighs 5.4 pounds.
Other hardware features include a 160 GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive for burning multiple disc formats, built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), a FireWire 800 and a FireWire 400 port, an ExpressCard/34 expansion card slot for expansion solutions such as 3G wireless networking, and a DVI video output.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
The Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor has a 2.2 GHz processor speed, super-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 4 MB of Smart Cache, an L2 cache that can be shared between the cores as needed. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)

The Intel Core 2 Duo's 128-bit SSE3 vector engine handles 128-bit computations in a single clock cycle, accelerating data manipulation by simultaneously applying a single instruction to multiple data. And its two execution cores are designed to share resources and conserve power, helping it to achieve higher levels of performance since it uses fewer watts

The new 15-inch MacBook Pro offers a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display with an antiglare finish that's perfect for color-minded professionals.
Display and Graphics
The 15.4-inch widescreen TFT (non-glossy) display offers a native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels and an antiglare widescreen display that's perfect for color-minded professionals. The new MacBook Pro display is backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), which gives it a lighter weight and more power efficiency than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ. It's also better for the environment, thanks to its new mercury-free display.

Video and graphics are powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card, which is boosted by 256 MB of GDDR3 SDRAM. GDDR3 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 3) is a graphics card-specific memory technology that's better able to deliver fluid frame rates for even the most advanced games and applications. The GeForce 8600M GT brings a new level of realism to the MacBook Pro with its 16-lane PCI Express architecture, 16x full screen anti-aliasing, 128-bit High Dynamic Range rendering, and a texture fill rate of up to 8.2 billion per second.

Hard Drive and Memory
The 160 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) provides more than enough space to store business-related documents and presentations, as well as offers space for a large digital audio and video library. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1 GB) have an industry-leading 667 MHz speed, and the RAM capacity can be increased to a whopping 4 GB.

Wireless Connectivity
The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g, but it's also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you to communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset for iChat audio chats and VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague.

Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight
Artfully placed in the display bezel is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you to snap pictures of yourself and create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up to 10 people and provides high-quality audio compression and full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb to create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast.

Apple Innovations

The magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter breaks cleanly away, without damage to either the cord or the MacBook Pro, if you trip over the cord..
The MacBook Pro is the culmination of years of refining hardware and software design to an integrated art. One of Apple's most celebrated innovations is the MagSafe power adapter connector with offers a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. So, if you happen to trip over a power cord, you won't send MacBook Pro flying off a table or desk--the cord simply disconnects, without damage to either the cord or the system. As an added nicety, this means less wear on the connectors.

Using two-fingered scrolling, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus with one hand.
The trackpad can tell if you've got one finger on the pedal, or two. With two, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. When you need right-click functionality, simply open ÒKeyboard and MouseÓ in System Preferences and enable the secondary click preference.

The MacBook Pro has battery life that rivals most notebooks in its class. If you'd like to make that battery last even longer, Mac OS X has a few tricks up its sleeve. Go to System Preferences, click Energy Saver, and change battery optimization from Normal to Better Battery Life. Or tell MacBook Pro to reduce its screen brightness and give yourself a little more time untethered.

And with the included Apple Remote and Front Row software, you can show off your latest photos and access your iTunes music and playlists from across the room. You can also use it to watch downloaded movies and TV episodes as well as control playback of DVD movies. The Apple Remote features a minimalist six buttons--just press the Menu button to activate Front Row and begin to navigate through your media. You can even use the remote to control Keynote presentations in iWork '06.

Customer Review: MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro is great, looks great and works well. The only thing is the new operating system wasn't loaded to the laptop but the disk was included. Other than that, everything is great. Love it.

Customer Review: MacBook Pro

I bought this computer one month ago and the price has dropped $305! I bought an Apple for its reputation as a reliable system. This one crashes regularly, especially when I attempt to use the help function. Also, it does not pick up wireless signals unless they are very, very strong. My six-year old Toshiba works better than this machine. Definitely not worth the premium paid.

Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious George (Jack Johnson)

Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious George (Jack Johnson)
Faced with the task of giving a voice to a central character that does not speak, Universal Pictures turned to Jack Johnson to craft songs that could provide a voice for Curious George. As a new father, it gave him the opportunity to make an album for both parents and children. Presented with early animations and the story line, Jack crafted new songs that capture the emotions of Curious George as he leaves the jungle to follow the Man with the Yellow Hat. He also turned to friends Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa to contribute songs that might bridge the gap between parent and child. Joined on the record by his band (Adam Topol, Merlo Podlewski, and Zack Gill), Jack duets with three of the other songwriters (Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa), and does a cover of the White Stripes' "We're Going to Be Friends." Parents who watched Schoolhouse Rock on Saturday mornings when they were children will recognize Jack's take on the classic "Three Is a Magic Number," reinterpreted with the 3 R's as a call to protect the environment and Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies feels like so much more than your standard soundtrack due to its unified creative vision. While the songs have a universal appeal, their themes speak to a child's experience (or in this case, a curious monkey's experience) of the world.

Customer Review: We all love it!

The entire family listens to this CD. We've even burned it to our ipod so we can travel with it. The kids like to sing along, as do we. This is the album that introduced us to Jack Johnson, and now we own all of his albums that we can find.

I also love that we can listen to this one with the grandparents. My son prefers Metallica and heavy metal music, and my daughter, Jack Johnson or Peter, Paul, and Mary. We listen to a wide variety of music at our house.

Another good point is that this isn't the traditional 'kiddie' fare - I don't care for the children's albums in general - too cheesy and well, intended for kids. This album appeals to all of us, regardless of age. Anyone who has ever been subjected to lengthy car rides with toddlers and toddler oriente music will understand what I'm talking about. There are only so many times an adult should sing BINGO or Itsy Bitsy Spider. Really.

Customer Review: Amazing!

I loved the CD! I definately reccomend it to anyone who is a Jack Johnson fan. You would think that a children's Movie soundtrack would be silly, but it's great!

Quickbooks Premier Nonprofit Edition 2008

Quickbooks Premier Nonprofit Edition 2008
QuickBooks: Premier Nonprofit Edition 2008 offers accounting and donation management tools tailored for nonprofits. In addition to saving you time on everyday tasks like paying bills and recording donations, Premier makes it simple to demonstrate financial accountability to your Board of Directors. Stay on top of your nonprofit's finances with nonprofit-specific reports that track program budgets and donations. With QuickBooks Premier, you'll have the tools and insights you need to make your organization a success.

Customer Review: Quickbooks needs to go further for non-profits

Yes, the non-profit version is better than the standard version. But how much better? I haven't decided. The terminology is still all wrong. Donors have to be labeled as "customers." You can't assign people to multiple categories. For example, if you have a vendor who also donates to the organization (very common in the non-profit world), you cannot list them in both categories under the same name. So you have list them in one category as "Jane Doe" and in the other category as "J. Doe" or "Jane S. Doe" or "Jane Doe 1." The process for accepting donations and applying them to a particular donor is far too involved. As far as I can tell, you have to make an invoice, then "receive payment" from them, then show that the payment has been deposited (and yes, you have to open up three different windows and put in the info three different times to accomplish this). That's way too many steps to go through for every single donation! I'm very tech savy and can intuitively figure out most programs (and I know Quickbooks, I've been using it in this business for the last 3 years). But for this version, I've ordered a help book. I hope it will help me address most of these issues (the program doesn't come with any manuals, and the in-program help section is 90% useless). I sense that this program should be able to do all the things it promises - like tracking donors and helping with thank you letters - but I haven't been able to use these options in a practicle way yet...

Customer Review: Quickbooks Premier NonProfit Edition

If you are looking for software that has good dynamic reporting for your donors this is NOT it. I was able to get the same reports out of Quicken for my donors. I have to manually change each donors name to appear on the top of their report. When you have over 100 donors and need to provide them frequent donation reports, this is not efficient. I reported this to Intuit. Maybe they'll improve this feature in the future.

Reading is totally different from the experience of watching a movie, or listening to radio. Both these activities require our partial involvement. Reading requires our mind's total involvement during the reading process. So select a calm and quite place for reading. If you are reading a book on a hard subject, this is especially important. A small distraction can turn your mind's involvement from the reading. Make it a habit to read the preface of any book you are going to read. It helps you to understand what the book is really about. It gives an overview about the book, the subject it handles etc. When you read the preface you get an overall idea about the book and it helps you to decide whether to read the whole book or not.

A good book helps to improve our lifestyle, our outlook towards the whole life. Bible is a good example of this. Bible contains the rise and fall of many civilizations; its contents also help one to make changes in his or her life.
